Roscoe's Story

Meet Roscoe!

Roscoe was an owner surrender at no fault of his own, unfortunately his previous owner was unable to keep him due to living arrangements changed. Roscoe was surrendered with his Dad who we have him as a bonded pair with. They are not required to be adopted out together but if we could keep them together it would be great. Roscoe is more on the timid side, he would benefit to be in a home with another dog if not adopted out with his dad as he opens up more when he has another dog around. Roscoe loves going on walks and loves the water. He did live with kids and cats and did great with them. ( He is nervous of little kids so older kids in the home would be

We had a generous person donate towards the care of Roscoe (Redbone coon hound mix, 40lbs a year old) and Hemi (Redbone Coon hound, 62lbs, just over a year and a half). They were both Neutered today, they received their rabies shot, and they are both heartworm negative. They went to Richmond Animal Richmond Animal League today for their care (Thank you RAL for taking great care of them) and the wonderful staff at RAL said they were both on their best behavior and just as sweet as ever. Hopefully this donation towards their vet care will help these 2 get adopted. They are both absolutely beautiful and sweet as can be. Must see in person. Big thank you to Salem's Light for covering the rest of the surgery fees. You guys are amazing

If interested in Roscoe please call the shelter at 804-520-9397 ext. 5 or message us on Facebook!

Colonial Heights Animal Services's Adoption Policy
If you are interested in adopting a pet from our shelter, the process begins with a visit to our shelter to meet the pet of your interest. After meeting the pet, if you decide that the pet is a good match for you and your family, you must then fill out an adoption application. The application must be filled out entirely. Incomplete applications will not be processed. Once you have completed and submitted your application, the application screening process usually takes 2-3 days to complete. Please note that we take multiple applications per pet. Each application is reviewed and the validity of all of the information listed by the applicant is verified. Our goal is place each pet with a forever home that best suits that particular pets needs, therefore we do not do first come first serve adoptions. If your application is the one chosen to adopt the pet, we will contact you and set up a time for you to come in and finalize the paperwork, pay the adoption fee, and pick up your new pet. There is no fee to fill out the adoption application. The fees for adoption are as follows: Female Dogs/Puppies - To be determined Male Dogs/Puppies - To be determined Female Cats/Kittens - To be determined Male Cats/Kittens - To be determined These fees cover the cost of having the pet spayed or neutered. ALL ANIMALS ADOPTED FROM COLONIAL HEIGHTS ANIMAL SHELTER MUST BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE. Please take a moment to browse our adoptable pets here on petfinder and feel free to visit our facility during our normal business hours. Thank you!
