Rosco Rue

Rosco Rue was surrendered to Los Angeles County Animal Control - Palmdale Shelter by his owner for reasons not given. Shelter staff reached out to find a safe exit for this sweet senior, and we were happy to welcome him as a Frosted Face on August 12th. Rosco weighs 27 pounds.

At 17 years old and with very limited vision and hearing, Rosco has lost his family and home at a time in life when change can be challenging for dogs to process. We can't help but wonder what happened to his family and wish we knew more about his past. But what we do know is that he deserves to spend his remaining years feeling loved, secure, and included in a home where he can is surrounded by comfort, patience, and care.

Fortunately, Rosco went on a three-week Frosted Fling and received lots of love in the comfort of a home while we learned more about him. Here's the scoop from his foster family:

Despite Rosco's limited vision and hearing, he has settled in and learned the layout of his foster home, although he occasionally bumps into things as he navigates. He doesn't seem bothered by it and continues exploring his surroundings. He likes spending time alongside his foster family in the kitchen, and he still loves to investigate when the refrigerator is open! He eats several small meals during the day and has a good appetite.

Rosco is a very quiet, gentle boy who enjoys being near his people even if he too interested in cuddling or being held yet. Noting that he can startle easily, his foster family touches him gently to let know they are near. Rosco likes getting outside and taking walks when it cools off in the evening. He doesn't walk far and enjoys stopping to sniff along the way. At home, he prefers napping on the floors rather than couches or beds.

Roscoe is fine with cats, although he can be startled if one unexpectedly approaches him. His foster family thinks he would also be comfortable living with other dogs.

If you're looking for a senior companion who doesn't ask for much beyond a safe place to rest, a consistent routine, and someone who will be patient with his needs, Roscoe may be the special boy you've been waiting for.

To meet Rosco, please meet:
placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org
