Rooster's Story

Meet Rooster!

This adorable 65-pound Great Dane mix is eight months old and is ready to begin his life with a family that will truly treasure him!

Rooster arrived at GLDR with his pal Goose and they are some of the most handsome hunks around. Rooster is an affectionate guy who gives great kisses. He enjoys hanging with volunteers and has no concept of how big he is when it comes time to snuggling with volunteers. He just wants to be near you and who wouldn't want that?

Rooster went on an outing with one of our amazing volunteers and had the best time! they hit the trail for a 1.5 mile walk and he was excellent on leash! He enjoyed taking in the scenery and smelling all of the new scents along the way. They encountered another dog along the trail and Rooster was eager to be friends. He rides well in the car when clipped in and would make and excellent copilot for your adventures!

As he is still a young man, Rooster will need daily exercise, continued training, and a yard to enjoy in his new home. He already knows how to sit and takes his treats very gently. He will need a capable handler due to his size. His happy-go-lucky demeanor is irresistible and he will no doubt bring years of joy to one lucky family.

Based on our evaluation, we feel Rooster would do best in a home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. He may have the potential to live with other animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby.

If you think he could be the guy for you, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com and submit your application for our remarkable Rooster!
