Roo's Story

Hi! I’m Roo, an 8-month-old, 65-lb pup. Google Lens thinks I look like a Rhodesian Ridgeback, but chances are probably higher that I’m some sort of lab, coonhound, husky, Heinz 57.

I am a super smart, high energy pup! I learn new things very quickly and know sit, down, touch, watch me, paws up, get on (4 feet on object), and I’m working on drop it. I am looking for a new owner who wants to go on daily outdoor adventures and can also entertain my brain. If I don’t get enough enrichment, I will make my own entertainment using objects from your home and trying to get you to chase me! With the right person, I will be an awesome dog with a lot of potential. I currently get two walks per day of about a mile each and also some other enrichment like trick training, snuffle mats, chews, scent work, and puzzle feeders.

I ride quietly and calmly in the car and walk well on leash although I might pull on occasion. I am getting more comfortable with crate training and bark for about 10 minutes and then sleep the rest of the workday. I sleep quietly at night in a bed.

I do well with other dogs even though interactions with dogs are new to me. At first I didn’t know how to play with small dogs and would take their snapping and retreating as an invitation to chase and roughhouse, but I’m getting much better. I am pretty submissive with the bigger dogs in the home. It would probably be easiest if there aren’t small dogs or senior dogs in my new home though, just so I don’t bug them. I haven’t met a cat but my foster owner thinks I might need a no cat home. I have met kids and did well but I might be too big and bouncy for small children.

Hope to find my adventure buddy soon!

Every PAWS dog is loved, vetted, and ready for a fresh start
