Roo's Story

Name: Roo
Nicknames: Roo-Roo. Rooster.
Breed: Black Lab
Age: ~1 year
Weight: ~60 lbs
Before OMD: Found running with her bully buddy, Peppa. Both were welcomed into rescue (Peppa has been adopted!) when no one came forward for them.
Energy Level: Medium. She's a young Lab, so expect daily playtime and zoomies but she's mostly a chill girl.
Descriptors: Scardy cat. Ditzy. Wallking tumbleweed. Clumsy. Curious. Neighborhood spy.
What we love most: Her cuddles. Her little snores. Her attempts at gracefully eating treats. When she's given something new to eat and she plays and nips at it before actually eating. Her puppy eyes.
What she loves most: Her foster (dog) brother. Squeaky toys. Bones. Treats, especially cheese and hot dogs. Snuggling up with foster family in bed. Neighborhood watch with foster brother.
Stranger Danger: High. Roo is afraid of new people and will usually bark (sometimes coupled with a weak little growl) when meeting a new person. It is all bark, and no bite - she is honestly just a nervous nelly. When she is given a few minutes, patience, and some high value treats (hot dogs and cheese!) she warms up and is then a cuddle monster.
What she knows: Sit (usually). She'll usually follow another dog's lead though if they follow a command...
Kid: 10+ please. She's an under confident girl and the chaos that young kiddos bring make her extra nervous.
Dogs: Yes! A home with a confident, playful pup is a must. Roo adores her foster brother.
Cats: Yes, if dog savvy. She lives with a cat currently, and will try to play and chase occasionally.
Housetrained: 95% - has an occasional accident here or there
Crate trained: Yes

Roo is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped. She is available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If interested in adopting, please complete an application from our website.

One More Dog Rescue (Formerly Ruff Start Happy Tails)'s Adoption Policy
One More Dog Rescue (OMD), formerly Ruff Start Happy Tails, requires all potential adopters to fill out an adoption application and agree to a home visit prior to any adoption. Once the application is approved, a meet and greet will be scheduled between the potential adopter (s) and the dog. If the dog is adopted through One More Dog, an adoption contract must be signed, and we ask that a donation in the amount of $500.00 for puppies and adult dogs and $350.00 for senior dogs be made at the time of adoption to help our rescue cover a portion of the costs we incur through pull fees, vetting, and training.
