Roo's Story
Meet Roo!

Hello. My name is Roo my foster mommy calls me Jo (since a baby Kangaroo is a Joey). I was born June 2025. I’m the cutest girl. I have the longest legs and I’m still trying to figure them out. I just figured out how to jump on the bed. The bed is my favorite place to sleep. I love to be next to my people at night. I’m doing pretty good with potty training. The first thing I do when I wake up is hurry up and go outside. I have my breakfast then go back to bed. I love naps, but then it’s play play play. I’m very happy playing by myself. I have so many toys. When it’s nice out we go outside and play fetch. I’m told I’m such a good girl because I bring the ball back.My foster mom did my DNA and although it's not guaranteed, it is fun to look at and see the traits I have from the breeds they listed!

When I’m tired or told “no” sometimes I get a little sassy with a bark letting you know I’m not happy. I don’t bark that much unless my 4 legged sister starts barking then I’ll start and most of the time I don’t know what I’m barking at. I know sit, down and stay (especially when treats are involved). My foster house has chickens and boy do I like to watch them. (I don’t bother them at all. I sit and watch and sometimes go near the coop to get some sniffs). If I’m not doing that I’m running around in the fenced yard. It’s so fun to get my zoomies out. If I had to rate myself I’d give me a B. There’s room for improvement but I’m still a puppy!

Our standard adoption fee is $375 if paid by cash or check, or $385 if paid by credit card (which includes a $10 processing fee). This fee covers spay/neuter surgery when age appropriate at one of our participating veterinarians, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative, and microchipping.

In order to be considered for adoption, we require a fully completed application, a phone interview, and a meet-and-greet with your entire family. Please note that submitting an application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee approval—it simply allows us to begin the review process.

If you are interested in adopting or would like additional information, please email us at adopt@safehavendogsIL.org to request an application.

Keep in mind that the breed and size listed in each dog's biography are our best educated guesses and are not guaranteed.

Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse the adoption of any dog or puppy to any applicant for any reason.
