Before being rescued by the shelter she was found with her littermates in a house with many other animals. They were found living in unsafe conditions and malnourished. We are so thankful for the shelter and being able to put her and her littermates into loving, warm, foster homes!<br/><br/>Ruby would do best in a home with another friendly, confident dog. She is working on socialization and learning her brand new world! She is truly the sweetest little girl! She is such a cuddle bug and wants to be with you all the time. She has done absolutely great with the dogs in her foster home and plays very well. She also does well with the cats in her foster home and pays them no mind- sometimes curious, but does well! She is also doing great with house training and is very food and treat motivated. She has done well with having a backyard to run in but also does well walking on a leash!<br/><br/>Ruby needs a loving home and owner who is very committed to continued socialization. Ideally with rescue experience and would do best with another friendly dog. Due to her past, she has special dietary needs, refeeding syndrome risk which was mitigated in shelter. She should be fed in her crate alone to improve food security and confidence. <br/><br/>She is being fostered in Richmond, VA and is up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, has been dewormed, and is on monthly preventatives. Her adoption fee is $375 and covers the cost of age-appropriate core vaccinations, microchip, and required spay when age-appropriate. We require that all adopters, regardless of the dog’s age, are committed to ongoing training and socialization as part of responsible ownership. We require adopters to be within a reasonable distance of Richmond or Virginia Beach in order to complete spay/neuter with our approved clinics.<br/><br/>Note: Sending a Petfinder inquiry is not submitting an application. We require a completed adoption application to move forward with adoption.<br/><br/>Beagles and Bentleys has an across-the-board evaluative process that we apply to every application we review that prioritizes our animals in need. We conduct a vet reference check (all resident dogs must be altered/up to date on dhpp/rabies and monthly preventatives, and cats must be altered and up to date on rabies) and a virtual home visit call where we discuss the adoption process and see your home.
