Romeo's Story

Would you like to foster or adopt your very own House Hippo?!?! Romeo is a stunning, sweet, goofy boy with luscious jowls and the most soulful eyes you've ever seen. Romeo showed up at a farm one day in Fresno and some good samaritans reached out to us for help after having no luck finding his owner.

Despite his young age, Romeo is a gentle boy with medium energy. He has tested well with small dogs, big dogs (although he doesn't seem to like huskies), kids, and even ignores cats! He came to us quite underweight and still needs to gain some more - he should probably be around 115 or 120. Although Romeo does not exhibit the typical mastiff protective or guarding tendencies, given his size we are only considering applicants who have experience with large, strong breeds.

Romeo is a little wobbly so, just to be safe, he has a neuro consult at UC Davis in late April to rule out any issues, but we're hoping it's just his oafish, goofy personality. Any associated diagnostics and treatment will be covered by House Hippo Rescue for fosters and adopters!

Romeo is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on his vaccines. To meet him in person, please fill out an adoption application. If you are using Adopt-a-Pet, you may click on the "Apply Online" button. If you are visiting us on Petfinder or other websites, please copy & paste this link: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HHRC/Dog
or apply directly on our website at househipporescue.org. We will get back to you within 72 hours.

If you have general questions about that are not answered in the above bio, please email admin@househipporescue.org and we will be happy to answer them!
