Meet Romeo <br/><br/>Estimated DOB: 05/12/2021<br/><br/>With a name like Romeo, you'd expect a lover.<br/><br/>And this 72-pound hunk absolutely lives up to it.<br/><br/>Romeo's story started on Mother's Day 2024 when he was found emaciated and tied to a park bench. As if being abandoned wasn't enough, it was discovered that he had swallowed a child's toy and needed emergency surgery to remove it.<br/><br/>He survived the surgery, recovered, and has been in foster care ever since.<br/><br/>Now, more than two years later, Romeo is still waiting for something he's never really had: a forever home of his own.<br/><br/>And boy, is this dog ready to love somebody.<br/><br/>Romeo LOVES people. Adults, kids, strangers on the street... he's not particularly picky about who gets his affection. He's full of slobbery kisses and tail wags and absolutely melts when someone gives him attention.<br/><br/>He even loves baths.<br/><br/>Not tolerates them. Loves them.<br/><br/>Mostly because a bath means someone is touching him, rubbing him down and telling him what a handsome beefcake he is. Romeo considers this an excellent use of everyone's time.<br/><br/>He's house trained, knows sit, enjoys walks, loves car rides and is perfectly happy hanging out on a comfy dog bed while you work or joining you on the couch for a serious television binge. When he's feeling playful, he's up for tug-of-war or a little fetch with a tennis ball.<br/><br/>Romeo is crate trained, although he has struggled with separation anxiety and can panic and drool when left alone in a closed crate. Now that everyone knows he's trustworthy and house trained, he's been given more freedom and has been doing much better.<br/><br/>When it comes to other dogs, Romeo prefers the chill ones. He gets very excited when meeting new dogs and needs a little time to settle himself before introductions. Calm dogs are much more his speed, while dogs barking incessantly in his face are definitely not on his list of favorite things. Honestly, fair.<br/><br/>He can also get a little overenthusiastic when meeting new people and may jump up to say hello. He's a big, strong guy, so his future family should be comfortable continuing to work on his manners.<br/><br/>Romeo's perfect home is pretty simple.<br/><br/>He wants to be the center of someone's universe.<br/><br/>Take him for walks. Bring him along for car rides. Let him hang out while you work. Rub his giant head. Let him give you entirely too many kisses. Include him in your life and he'll be thrilled.<br/><br/>Romeo has spent long enough waiting for someone to choose him.<br/><br/>This big, goofy, affectionate hunk survived being abandoned, starving and needing emergency surgery.
