Romeo's Story

Romeo was born 11/14/2025 with subaortic stenosis. The heart muscle in his body has started thickening due to his heart working so hard. Romeo has been started on atenolol to slow his heart rate down. Unfortunately, there isn’t anything surgically that has been successful on dogs with this issue. He isn’t in any pain and is a typical happy puppy. He will be going back to Medvet Columbus to see his cardiologist in another 3-4 months. Romeo is at risk for having a sudden fatal heart attack and his life span will be probably 1-2 years. We are praying he gets to live longer than that but no matter how much time he has he is loved and enjoying his life.

His foster Mom is fine with him staying with her but we are also willing to entertain the idea of someone else becoming his hospice foster. This would need to be someone home more than they are gone, and you would need to have a physical fenced yard along with being close enough to our area to get Romeo back to here for transport to his cardiologist in Columbus.

The rescue continues to pay for his vet care as a hospice foster thanks to your donations.

If you are interested in becoming a permanent foster home for Romeo, please read "How to Adopt" at www.gr-rescue.org and follow the directions from there.
