Yes, as long as they're taught to respect the dog’s belongings and boundaries.
• HOUSEBROKEN? Not 100% yet. As rescues that lived on the street or tile/outdoor surfaces, they'll need some time to adjust. Most of our dogs adapt within 1-2 weeks of consistent training.

Rome was left behind when his family moved away. They packed up their belongings, loaded the car, and drove off—leaving Rome, his puppy, and the puppy's mother on the street like they'd never mattered at all.

When he was found, Rome was thin, scared, and confused. He'd gone from having a home to having nothing. From being someone's dog to being nobody's. And he didn't understand why.

"He was so scared at first," his foster remembers. "He wouldn't let you touch him. Just kept his distance, watching."

But Rome has spent the past couple months learning to trust again. And slowly, beautifully, he's opened up. Now he's affectionate, loves to cuddle, lets you hug and kiss him without pulling away. He's still a little cautious when he first meets someone new—he'll observe for a bit, make sure you're trustworthy—but it doesn't take long before he decides you're okay.

Rome is the perfect balance of a Chihuahua who loves his people without being high-maintenance about it. He wants to be near you, loves curling up next to you on the couch or burrowing into bed at night. He's sweet and loving, always ready for attention when you're available. But he's not anxious when you leave. He's not needy for attention. He has no destructive behaviors. He just... waits for you to come back, then showers you with affection when you do.

"He's not a velcro dog exactly," his foster explains. "But he definitely wants to be close. He loves his people."

Rome is good with other dogs, good with cats, and wonderful with people. He's house-trained, well-behaved, and fully recovered from his time on the streets. At four years old, he's past the chaotic puppy phase but still young enough for many years of companionship ahead.

What Rome needs is a home where there's abundant love to give. Someone who'll let him sleep in bed, who'll scratch his ears while watching TV, who'll appreciate his affectionate nature without being overwhelmed by neediness. He doesn't need someone home 24/7, but he does need someone who'll cherish him when they are.

After being abandoned by the people he trusted, after losing everything—Rome is ready to try again. He's ready to believe that not everyone leaves. That some people stay.

Are you ready to be the person who shows Rome that this time, love is permanent?

*************************

📝 Ready to apply?
