Roland's Story

Roland is quiet, love-able, cuddle-er. He is 5-6 years old.
He does well with human(s), who will include him in everything they do.
He loves to travel in the car. A harness attachment in the backseat is needed or he
will seek your lap while you are driving.
He loves to meet people, however he has trouble containing his excitement and will
jump and paw at the new person (s) for attention.
He enjoys being brushed while on the lap of his human.
He does well with one other dog. He likes to play with toys to either chew on or tug.
He prefers to sleep in the bed with his human, but will compromise with a blanket next
to the bed or on the couch in the living room.
He does well in his crate, however treats and his food dish have been used to coax
him in without too much trouble. He has been left in the crate for 2 to 5 hours without
any issue.
He does lay behind his human when doing dishes in the kitchen, or underfoot while
his human is working at home.
He seems to be housebroken, he will sit or stand at the door waiting for his human to
attach a leash to go out OR he will race to the door, hoping you will follow and take
him out. Sometimes he likes to scratch up the dirt after he’s done his business. He
only lifted his leg in the house on the first night we had him and has not done it since.
He seems interested in smells, whether it is the wildlife around our property or the
neighborhood dogs.
He will use his voice to let his humans know when cars come into the driveway. And
for dogs, squirrels, deer, and foxes.
He does walk ok on a leash, usually the left side of the human. He is a fast walker.
As we do not have a fenced in yard, he has only been outside on a leash.
His dog food preference currently is Purina Pro Plan Adult Complete Essentials—1.5
cups twice a day.
He is a water drinker without much mess.
In order to give him medicine, we found he will take anything in pork and beans OR
cutting into a Pioneer Woman Chicken and Sweet Potato Bite, pushing the pill into the
opening. Then wash your hands, give him one Bites before giving him the one with
the pill in it, followed by 1 to 2 more Bites.

Roland was recently treated for heartworm, but wont need any special care moving forward except remaining on his monthly heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250 he is fixed, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention
