Roger's Story

Meet Roger, the handsome dappled sweetheart who’s on the hunt for his perfect match.

Roger is 1 year and 7 months old, about 40 pounds, and very much your classic Aussie: smart, energetic, a little goofy, and always ready to zoom around like he’s training for the Herding Olympics. He spent his early life in an outdoor kennel, so he’s still learning the joys of indoor living—soft beds, kind humans, and the magic of belly rubs. The good news? He is crate trained, which helps him feel secure and sets him up for success as he continues learning house manners.

He tends to feel most comfortable with women and warms up beautifully with patience, routine, and gentle handling. He loves other dogs, and having a confident canine buddy helps him shine. Roger has also been around cats and seems to do okay with them, though he hasn’t lived with cats in a home setting, so thoughtful introductions and supervision would be important.

Roger needs a home that can truly keep up with him: a large, securely fenced yard where he can stretch those long legs, plenty of daily exercise and mental enrichment, and an adopter who understands the Aussie brain (translation: equal parts brilliance and mayhem). Prior experience with Australian Shepherds or other high-drive herding breeds will set everyone up for success.

If you’re an Aussie-savvy human looking for a sweet, eager-to-learn sidekick, Roger might just be your guy. He’s got the looks, the wiggle, the heart—and he’s ready for someone who speaks “Aussie.”

If you’d like to learn more about Roger or schedule a meet and greet, please complete our adoption application: https://arfhumane.org/arf-adoption-application/
