Rodney's Story

Rodney is currently in a foster home. If you would like to meet him, please start by visiting www.sccrescue.org and completing an application.

Rodney is a lovable approx. 3-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix with a calm, easygoing personality and a heart full of affection. He’s mostly potty trained and will let you know when he needs to go out by heading to the door, though he may have an occasional accident if left too long. While he’s not the biggest fan of the crate, he’ll settle in quietly when needed. Rodney is a quiet companion overall, rarely barking unless startled by unfamiliar loud noises, and he much prefers soaking up attention and being close to his people.

This sweet boy is known for his incredible cuddling skills—he truly snuggles like a human and will happily nap anywhere soft, from a cozy bed to your couch. Rodney gets along well with other dogs and has been wonderful with kids of all ages, making him a great fit for a family environment. He’s highly food-motivated, eats well twice a day, and happily accepts any treats offered. He’ll even come when you clap and is eager to please, though he could benefit from some continued basic training.

Rodney enjoys spending time outdoors, especially sunbathing, though he may occasionally chase after a squirrel or rabbit if given the chance. He walks nicely without pulling, though he likely hasn’t had much formal leash experience yet. With his mild energy level, Rodney is an excellent match for someone looking for a relaxed companion who still enjoys playtime and companionship. He may get into mischief if bored and can be a bit timid when scared, sometimes retreating to hide under a bed. He’s also still gaining confidence with stairs. Overall, Rodney is a gentle, affectionate, and chill pup who would thrive in a loving home—especially one with a furry playmate to keep him company.

We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog’s individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog.

Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don’t know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess.

Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area. Questions? Email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org. Hope to see you become part of the SCCR family!
