Rocky Road's Story
We're not supposed to have favorites... But if we did, it would be because Rocky Road is wonderfully friendly, incredibly smart, and simply the most well-rounded pup!

Rocky Road has always known love. His mom was picked up as a stray the day before she gave birth by a Good Samaritan. He raised the puppies until they were old enough to be adopted out and Rocky found a home that loved him immensely. Unfortunately, after welcoming another baby into the family, they realized they could no longer give Rocky the time and attention he deserved. And that's where we came in to offer help!

Rocky came to us as happy as can be! He immediately made friends with multiple dogs and settled in just perfectly. He loves people and dogs and is quite the social and playful guy! Rocky was previously living with a calm dog and got along great with him! He is respectful of boundaries when another dog does not want to play with him. He does love playing with other dogs! However, in typical Shepherd fashion, he plays hard with other playful dogs. Rocky would do best in a home with another dog that is easygoing and won't mind his enthusiastic play style!

Rocky has experience living with children of all ages, from toddlers to teenagers! His previous adopter shared that when she became pregnant, Rocky seemed to sense the change and became especially gentle and attentive, sticking close by her side like a little shadow. And when the new baby arrived? Rocky did wonderfully!

Rocky is incredibly smart. He knows "sit," "paw," "other paw," "down," and is working on "stay" and "leave it." He's attentive, eager to learn, and watches you so closely when you talk that you'd almost think he was trying to understand every word! Rocky would thrive with a family that enjoys engaging his clever mind while providing plenty of physical exercise, training, and enrichment.

At 2.5 years old, Rocky is still a young pup with medium-to-high energy and plenty of adventures ahead of him. He rides well in the car, loves being around his people, and is always ready to join in on the fun. Whether you're heading out for an adventure, working on new tricks, or simply spending time together, Rocky would love to be your sidekick!

Rocky is ready for his next great adventure: finding his forever family! Could it be you?

**This pet is currently being fostered in Corpus Christi, Texas but is available for transport to the destination in which they are listed. We handle all transport logistics!

To watch Rocky's video: https://youtu.be/P8mO5GybP_E?si=GYs3aw-1X_AoTR4S

To apply to adopt Rocky, please visit the following link: https://forms.gle/iWKCAs4EjVJQJbnYA

Dreaming of Furever Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue that adopts cats and dogs from South Texas to the Pacific Northwest, Colorado, and the East Coast. The adoption process consists of an application, reference checks, phone interview, and video chat with the pet and foster parent!

The adoption fee of $650 includes spay/neuter, vaccines (rabies, DHPP, and Bordatella), microchip with free lifetime registration, deworming, transport, heartworm test, heartworm & flea prevention during the pet's time in our program as well as 2 free months of heartworm and flea prevention to be sent in their adoption packet!

We are volunteers with a passion to reduce the stray population and unnecessary euthanasia in South Texas. According to Shelter Animals Count, an almost 100,000 cats and dogs were euthanized in Texas shelters in 2024. By transporting our adoptable pets to areas with fewer unwanted pets, they have a better chance of quickly finding loving homes, while also freeing up space in Texas shelters and giving more local animals a chance at life.

If you are interested in more information about this pet or our organization, please email us at DreamingOfFurever@gmail.com.
