Rocky's Story

Rocky's journey has been heartbreaking, but this sweet boy hasn't let it dim his spirit. Originally adopted from the Greenville shelter, Rocky was returned for being “too big.” Not long after, he was found abandoned in a dumping ground, left to fend for himself. He was attacked by other abandoned dogs and arrived back at the shelter bruised, terrified, and defeated.

Before a rescue could step in, his previous owners adopted him again—only to return him once more because their fence wasn't secure and they kept him outside. Rocky ran out of time fast. He had just hours left before being scheduled for euthanasia when our rescue found a foster willing to step up and save him.

She adored him, but due to a family emergency, she can no longer keep him. Now Rocky needs a new foster or, even better, the forever family he's been waiting for all along.

Why Rocky Is So Easy to Love

· 1.5 years old and about 90 lbs — a big, gentle teddy bear

· Wonderful with children and other dogs

· Sweet, affectionate, and incredibly gentle

· A true velcro dog who loves being close to his people

· Checks on his humans when they cough or sneeze — he's that tuned in

· Doesn't like being alone, but never destructive

· Loyal, sensitive, and craving stability

Rocky has survived abandonment, fear, and heartbreak, yet he remains one of the most loving dogs you'll ever meet. Cody's Friends Rescue's Adoption Policy
Full details can be found https://www.codysfriendsrescue.com/adopt/ Step 1 – Check out all our fur babies on our Adoptable Dogs page and let us know which one you would like to welcome into your home. We also recommend attending an Adoption Event to find your furever friend. Step 2 – You’ve found a dog (or two!) and are ready to start the application process. Please complete our Adoption Application and submit it to Cody’s to be considered for a furever home. A representative from Cody’s Friends Rescue will contact you within 2-4 business days. Requirements: Applicants must be at least 25 years of age. Applicants with children: Children must be at least 4 years of age. As a standard policy, we do not adopt puppies under 6 months into apartments. Please understand this is based on history and experience as puppies require ongoing attention and training and can be quite noisy with whining and crying when left alone for extended hours. This is based on our history and experience and exceptions will only be made if one or more of the adopters work from home. If you’re renting your home, you must show proof of landlord approval if interested in adopting. Please review your rental agreement for any breed restrictions. Exceptions may be made depending the family’s experience with dogs, and on the dog being considered. We have some dogs that prefer to be in a home with older children or low activity, and we ask that you trust our experience and recommendations to help find the best match for you. Step 3 – You’ve been approved for an official Meet-And-Greet! A volunteer with Cody’s Friends Rescue will schedule and conduct a Meet-And-Greet with your family and any other pets in the home. Step 4 – If the Meet-And_Greet goes well, we’ll schedule a home visit (which may be done as part of the Meet-And-Greet) allowing the dog to begin a 10-day home trial. The home check ensures the safety and comfort of the dog in a new home. The adoption fee is collected and held at this time until the adoption is finalized. Step 5 – After the home trial, if you’ve found your match, you can choose to finalize the adoption process by completing the Adoption Contract. Once finalized, you will receive your new dog’s prior medical records for your files, and their microchip will be transferred from Cody’s to you.
