Rocky's Story

Meet Rocky — Smart, Loyal & Just the Right Amount of Goofy! Rocky has all the things people love about Cattle Dogs: smart, loyal, devoted and happiest when he's included in whatever his people are doing. Basically, if you're going somewhere, Rocky's thinking, “Great. I'm coming too.”

This handsome boy currently lives with two large dogs—a male Hound and a female Cattle Dog—and does wonderfully with both. He loves having canine friends and is always up for a good wrestle or romp when the mood strikes. But Rocky isn't one of those dogs who believes every day needs to be an Olympic sporting event. He's moderate energy and perfectly happy to play, hang out or simply keep an eye on what's happening. Rocky is not particularly demanding about his social calendar.

He's also doing a great job with all the important grown-up stuff:

House trained with frequent breaks and access to a dog door
Doing very well on leash and enjoys daily walks with his foster siblings
Sleeps happily on a dog bed at night
Very devoted to his people
Happy to play or simply hang out
Does well free-roaming in the house for a few hours

His foster family has discovered that Rocky does just fine without a crate for short periods, provided the usual tempting contraband—shoes, snacks and other things that mysteriously become fascinating when humans aren't looking—is kept out of reach.

And there is one small disclaimer: Rocky has excellent squirrel and rabbit detection skills. When one makes an appearance, his leash manners may temporarily be replaced by his inner Cattle Dog shouting, “WE HAVE A SITUATION!”

Otherwise, Rocky is a terrific walking buddy and is happy to accompany you on a hike, stroll around the neighborhood, visit the dog park or spend the evening doing absolutely nothing on the couch.

Rocky is a smart, loyal, affectionate guy looking for a family who will include him in life's good stuff—and give him a cozy place to crash when all that excitement is over.

Interested in adopting Rocky? https://www.circle2rescue.com/dog-adoption-application/ Adoption Fee: $250 — includes spay, age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming and microchip.
