Rocky is a handsome 7 1/2 -year-old Lab mix weighing around 87 pounds, and we think this big guy deserves a second look.<br/><br/>When Rocky first comes out of his kennel to meet someone, he can seem like a lot of dog. He’s big, strong, and excited—but that burst of energy is really just Rocky being thrilled to get out of his kennel and spend time with people. Once that initial excitement settles, you get to see the dog we know at the shelter: a calm, easygoing guy who spends most of his days relaxing quietly in his kennel.<br/><br/>Rocky is smart, takes treats very gently, already knows several commands, and absolutely loves his toys! Give him something fun to play with and you’ll quickly see his playful side come out. He enjoys attention, companionship, and getting the chance to stretch his legs, but he isn’t a dog who needs to be going nonstop.<br/><br/>Rocky has done well with other dogs here at the shelter. He was previously adopted and returned after having trouble with another dog, so we would want any potential canine sibling to meet him first to make sure everyone is a good fit. Since returning to us, however, we have not had concerns with his interactions with other dogs.<br/><br/>At 7 1/2 years old, Rocky is past the puppy stage and ready for a home where someone can appreciate the good dog underneath that enthusiastic first hello.
