Rocko. Partner/ Pal. Foster or adopt's Story

currently in Pennellville NY area. but can travel Meet and greet is required though

Meet Rocko, a three-year-old pit mix (andgreat fetcher/cather maybe a touch of hound) with a huge, infectious smile and an enthusiasm for life that’s hard to resist. It’s hard to believe that this happy, loving dog almost didn’t make it out of the shelter alive. Rocko was saved from euthanasia at nearly the last possible moment, and now he finally has the chance to write the next chapter of his story.

And what a dog he is. Rocko is pure joy in a doggy body. He’s bright, social, dog and people friendly, and loves to play, sniff, explore, learn and spend time with his person.

Rocko enjoys having things to do, but he doesn’t need to be on the go all day. A good sniffy walk or an adventure is great, but so are quieter activities. After some fun and connection, Rocko knows how to settle and chill.

What matters most to Rocko is having a person he can trust and a relationship he can count on. He often checks in with his person, and he’s not always asking for a treat or a command. Sometimes he’s asking, What’s next? Are we okay? He’ll do best with someone who notices those moments and lets him know, I see you. We’re good. I’ve got you.

Rocko is still learning and will need some consistency and guidance. He’d love someone who wants to include him in their life—to go places together, play, learn, snuggle and chill—and who sees working together as shared time rather than a chore.

Some previous dog experience would be helpful. If there are children in the home, we think ages 12+ would generally be the best fit at this time.

Rocko’s new family won’t be doing this alone. Red Hook Dog Rescue will be there to offer guidance and support as Rocko adjusts to his new home.

He’s looking for a foster or forever home where that big smile and zest for life can finally settle in and shine.
