ROCKO's Story

Meet Rocko, a 2 year old Catahoula Leopard Hound! Rocko is mostly blind (he can see some movements and shapes) so will require a new family willing to work with a special needs dog! He moves through the world pretty well, but will still require some special care and attention. Rocko was surrendered for chasing and attempting to bite at livestock on the ranch he lived, so he will need to go to a home where he will not be expected be around any livestock. He previously lived with other dogs and was mostly good, would just like to chase to play and can sometimes be rough. Rocko had also lived with a cat in a previous home, that he would chase, but stopped when the cat swatted at him. At the shelter Rocko is neutral with other mellow dogs and enjoys walking with them, though he can get spooked sometimes. He does, however, seem to like having his own space when getting cuddles from people so may be happiest as an only dog to get all the love and attention he deserves. A slow careful introduction should be used when introducing him to new cats or dogs, especially with his special needs. Rocko is a large dog, around 80 lbs, and will likely have a lot of energy to spend with his young age and breed. Come in or call (805)781-4401 to meet Rocko today!
