Rocket's Story

Rocket is a very sweet, very cuddly 3 year old, rough coated JRT. He was brought into a shelter when his owner was hospitalized and the remaining family were unable to care for him. The shelter contacted us for help.

He loves to play, loves to run, is still very puppyish, even at three years. He will have to go to a home with a fenced yard, he loves being outside and would go for endless walks. He walks beautifully on leash. Rocket is great with other bigger dogs. He is not always so good with smaller dogs. The foster mom is working on this with him and he is showing great promise. He is not aggressive per se, it’s more over excitement and he doesn’t seem to know what to do. Unless the new owner is willing to continue to work on this, he would do best in a home with either no other dogs or other bigger dogs. The foster home has a border collie whom he pays no attention to at all. He is house trained but may need a refresher when he goes to his new home. He is a typical JRT and learns very quickly and would do well in a home with an owner who enjoys working with him. The foster mom is in the process of crate training him, which he is doing extremely well on. He rides very quietly while crated in the car.

Rocket has a strong prey drive so should not go to a home with cats or other small animals or young children. He would thrive in a home with an active retired couple, or a family with older children provided he was not left alone for long periods. He is neutered and up to date on all his vaccines, he is just waiting for the right home!
Rocket is being fostered in Colborne.
