Rock's Story

Meet Rock! Rock is one of two dogs remaining at MCHS that were rescued from the Lake County Animal Shelter during the North Coast Animal Services neglect fiasco. Our shelter staff and visitors have fallen in love with Rock's angelic calm and sweetness from the moment he walked through our doors, and frankly we're surprised he hasn't been adopted already. Rock has Cushing's Syndrome, a manageable adrenal condition, and will need daily medication for the rest of his life. The good news is an amazing member of our community has already stepped up to cover the cost of his medication, and his adoption fee is being sponsored as well!
Rock came back to our shelter from his temporary foster a couple of weeks ago. It's not because he did anything wrong, or because his foster family didn't love him. They did! But their home has a two-dog limit, and the landlord had only approved fostering Rock temporarily. The time they were given is now up and Rock has to return to a kennel. Because of his gentle, sensitive nature, we feel the noise of day-to-day shelter life isn't the proper environment for a dog with an adrenal condition to rest, recuperate, and thrive.
What Rock truly needs is a person willing to give him a peaceful home life full of stability, patience, and love. This giant marshmallow of a dog is good with other dogs, has done well around children, and seems fine with cats. He is gentle, loving, and has perfected the art of the heart-melting, inquisitive head tilt.
Rock deserves more than bouncing back and forth between places while he waits for someone to choose him. Rock urgently needs either a foster or, even better, a forever home. Please consider fostering or adopting Rock, and/or sharing his story with friends. He deserves a peaceful loving home life where he can continue to rest and recuperate and truly thrive!

Mendocino Coast Humane Society's Adoption Policy
Through our Adoptions Program, we offer a variety of wonderful animals who are deserving of a loving, responsible home. Our adoption fees include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, de-worming, flea treatment, as well as heartworm, feline leukemia and FIV testing. In addition to being open Monday through Saturday, we also extend our adoption programs reach with our Mobile Pet Adoptions van, which enables us to go into our community with adoptable animals in Mendocino as well as Fort Bragg. We also feature an adoptable animal weekly on Skunk Radio and in local newspapers. We want you! MCHS is always looking for volunteers. We need people to train dogs, take them out for walks, and to hang out with the cats in our Kitty Cottage. To find out more email us at info@mendocinohumane.org or call us at 964-SPAY. Website: mendocinohumane.org We are located at 19691 Summers Lane, Fort Bragg, Ca.
