Rocco's Story

Rocco is the bomb! He's truly a fantastic pup who is a beautiful 1-2 year old Shepherd mix and fully grown at 50 pounds. He has a wonderful and gentle temperament and is so well mannered. It's obvious that at one time he had a very good home because he's such a lovely and gentle boy. We're not sure how he landed in a Shelter but we're just so happy that he's with us now so we can find him a wonderful forever home!

Rocco gets along great with everyone he meets and loves playing with other dogs too. He's also great with cats as you'll see in the video of his cat test. He has a very sweet way of greeting you, other pups and even cats too....a polite guy! He knows some commands and is very smart so he'd love to learn more. He walks really well on a leash and is very good on car rides. If you are looking for a great family dog who has a medium to low energy level and ....Rocco may be the perfect dog for you! You really couldn't find a nicer pup who will be so easy to live with. We are looking for a loving family who will give Rocco the happy forever life that he so deserves. We think he'd thrive in a suburban area and would love a fenced in yard. He'd do great with a doggie sibling but could easily be a solo pup if he got lots of love and attention. He's healthy, up to date on all his vaccinations, house-trained and crate-trained. Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to get lots more information on Rocco, more pics and videos of him.

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes. What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
