This clever boy is vocal, expressive, and always ready for whatever fun comes next.

HISTORY

River and his six siblings came to HART when they were just two weeks old. His playful personality and curiosity should make him a fun puppy to train as he grows.

River is fostered with twin toddlers and other dogs, giving him experience with both children and canine companions. He and his siblings are working hard on crate training and potty training while learning the skills needed to become well-rounded family dogs.

River will benefit from a family who is ready to keep his clever brain busy with training, enrichment, play, and age-appropriate adventures. Puppy kindergarten and positive-reinforcement training would be a wonderful next step for this bright boy.

It's important to remember: River is a PUPPY, and PUPPIES ARE HARD WORK! He has sharp nails, needle teeth, boundless curiosity, and an impressive ability to find things he probably shouldn't have. He will have accidents, chew things, pounce on your shoes, and generally keep you on your toes. Please don't apply to adopt River unless you're prepared for the time, patience, energy, and commitment required to raise a puppy right!

HEALTH STATUS

River has received two puppy vaccinations, four rounds of deworming, and has been microchipped. He appears to be in good health.

River will be sterilized as part of his HART adoption. Additional veterinary care, including ongoing vaccinations and routine puppy care, will be the responsibility of his adopter.

ADOPTION

The adoption fee for River is $425.

To apply to adopt River, please complete our online adoption application at https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAWA-A-197, or email HearthfireART@gmail.com and request an adoption application form.

HART dogs live in foster homes, not in a kennel facility. To respect our fosters' privacy, we make our dogs available to meet adopters only after an adoption has been approved.

HART (Hearthfire Animal Rescue Team)'s Adoption Policy
All our pets are in private foster homes. HART does not have a facility. For this reason, we introduce pets to potential adopters only after the adoption application has been approved. Our process involves: # A detailed application form, which must be submitted electronically # An online background check # Reference checks (calls to your vet, landlord, and at least two personal references) # Interviews with all the adults in the home (and, if the pet is intended primarily as a child's companion, we talk with the child) # A home visit, conducted at our discretion by a member of HART or a trusted rescue colleague Most of our pets are located in the Tri-Cities (Kennewick/Richland/Pasco) in Eastern Washington, and we place pets only in homes within the Pacific Northwest. As needed we may arrange for a trusted member of our team to transport a pet to an adopter, at the adopter's expense. We do not ever release pets to a third party for transportation; we personally introduce every pet to their adopter. HART is a registered 501(c)3 charity. We depend on adoption fees and donations to continue serving our community. We do not have an office or facility, and our team is made up only of volunteers. Our entire income goes to helping animals.
