River's Story
*** Professionally Trained***
If the doggie Olympics existed, River would for sure be a gold medalist in several events. He excels in fetching, jumping, running, and water sports!! However, he violated the rules at the last swimming completion because he was more interested playing with his large hard plastic ball in the pool, thus forfeiting the swimming gold medal to his competitors. He has decided to compete in water polo in lieu of swimming this fall. He has also recently created his own Olympic event which closely resembles soccer- which of course he excels at as well!
At his latest news conference, he was adamant he will not be competing in cycling despite pleas from his fans- he finds those rotating wheels to be more than he can handle. He does however bask in the glory of be chartered from event locations in his chariot where he cuddles up and power naps in anticipation of what’s to come when he gets there.
His ideal home would be where he could be supported to continue to train for the doggie Olympics; where he could have a fenced yard for endless fetching, running, and soccer. He is very competitive in these events so no other animals- please.
River is full gown; 49lbs. and 13 months old. He is microchipped, neutered, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives and is heartworm negative. His coach says he will not be joining a bigger weight class as he is now in top shape and no longer growing.
When he is not competing, like any quality athlete, he requires pampering in the form of crate rest with frozen Kongs or long lasting bones to help him decompress from all that exercise as well as massage sessions whereby you cuddle and rub every inch of his body in order to loosen up all those muscles from a hard day's work.
He is still a puppy and very much requires a companion who will take over his training and leadership to guide him towards winning additional gold medals in house training and fine tuning his manners. He does well when provided the opportunity to potty outside frequently. Which for the right person should be a piece of cake as he is very food motivated and eager to compete AND is presently being professionally trained by Revolutionary Canine!!!
He will need a family that will be patient and put forth the time and effort he deserves in order to be the best athlete he can be and to maintain what he has learned. *River is not cut out for apartment life as it interferes with his ability to compete in track and field events as well as soccer and water polo.

He is presently being fostered in Mills River, NC. We require veterinary reference checks. We respond to all adoption inquiries so please be sure to check your junk/spam folder if you email us through PetFinder that you are interested as our response often goes to junk/spam.
