River originally was brought to DCAC by an individual who claimed her to be a stray. Very quickly, staff had a feeling this wasn't actually the case. River was seemingly very attached to this person, would not stop following them around the lobby, even followed them around outside when they arrived, without a collar or leash on. <br/>This person left, we attempted to pull the license plate information from our cameras, but by the time we got to that step, the person returned to confess that River was their dog and that they were in a situation where they needed the dog to go elsewhere. Thankfully they came back and gave the real story, which many times people don't do, and we are left guessing as it cannot always be proven.<br/><br/>So, introducing River, the 1.5yr female Malinois mix. River is a very sweet, but very timid girl who needs time to warm up to new people. She tries to get in your skin and be as close to you as possible once she feels comfortable with you. River needs an experienced home that can work with her on becoming a more confident, stable dog.
