Rita's Story

Rita is a sweet, gentle girl who wants nothing more than to cuddle up with her people and be loved on. She loves people and seems to like other dogs, and she’s warming up to the resident cats in her foster’s home. Rita is well-suited for a dog-friendly workplace and is quite happy to nap the day away in a corner of the office. She also does well when left home alone, uncrated.

Rita is heartworm positive and will be receiving treatment for that at the end of May, after which she will have strict limitations on her activity for 4-8 weeks. She *is* adoptable during this time. She is currently a fairly low-energy dog but exhibits little flashes of excitement when she sees a favorite person - we’re excited to see more of this joyful personality emerge as she recovers.

Rita is estimated to be 4 year old and 30 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested.

If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at https://safehandsrescue.org/adoption-process/ and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting.

We are also holding the following upcoming adoption events!

Please note: All dogs/puppies will not be at every event, and some may find their home prior to the event. If you are interested in a specific animal, please check our Facebook page for confirmed attendance the morning of the event: https://www.facebook.com/safehandsrescue/
You do not need to have a Facebook account to check the Safe Hands Facebook page for attendance.
