Ripley's Story
Meet Ripley!

Ripley is the kind of dog who keeps life interesting.

He's smart, playful, adventurous, and always ready for whatever comes next. Whether he's exploring a new trail, playing with his dog friends, working on a training session, or curling up beside you after a busy day, Ripley throws his whole heart into everything he does.

This handsome adolescent has a wonderful combination of affection, intelligence, and personality. He loves being active, loves learning, and loves spending time with the people he trusts.

His foster describes him simply:

"Ripley is a good boy who would benefit from an owner willing to help train him. He absolutely loves doggy daycare."

Ripley's Story

Ripley's journey began in Oklahoma, where he, his siblings, and their mother found themselves in a shelter.

Thankfully, rescue stepped in and gave the family a second chance. Ripley eventually made his way to Wisconsin, where he has been learning what it means to be a loved family dog.

Like many adolescent dogs, Ripley is still figuring out the world around him and learning how to navigate new experiences with confidence.

Ripley's Favorite Activities:

Hiking and outdoor adventures
Walks and exploring new places
Running and playing outside
Car rides
Doggy daycare
Playing with other dogs his size
Playing with toys
Tug-of-war
Water play
Sniffing and exploring
Training sessions
Treat puzzles and enrichment games
Chewing on bones
Sunbathing
Relaxing with his family
Cuddling after a busy day

Ripley thrives when he has opportunities to stay mentally and physically active.

What Ripley Is Working On

Ripley is a smart dog who enjoys learning, but he is still very much an adolescent and benefits from guidance and structure.

His foster family is helping him work on:

Leash manners
Managing excitement
Polite greetings
Appropriate play behavior with smaller dogs
Confidence in new environments
Settling when overstimulated
Continuing his training foundation

Ripley can be nervous in unfamiliar places and may initially bark or seem unsure when encountering something new. Busy environments and crowds can sometimes feel overwhelming for him, and he tends to do best when introduced to new experiences gradually.

Like many young dogs, he can also become mouthy during play, jump when excited, and occasionally test boundaries with a little stubbornness and mischief.

The good news is that Ripley is incredibly smart and learns quickly when given clear expectations and positive reinforcement.

Ripley's Ideal Home

Ripley would thrive in:

An active household
Experienced or training-minded adopters
People who enjoy outdoor adventures
A family willing to continue his training
Homes with other dogs
People who understand adolescent dogs

Ripley absolutely loves other dogs and truly shines when he has canine friends to play with. Doggy daycare has been one of his favorite activities and has helped him burn energy while building social skills.

His compatibility with cats is unknown, but based on his overall temperament, he may do well with proper introductions.

He loves children, but because of his energy level and tendency to get excited, he may accidentally knock over smaller children during play.

Why You'll Love Ripley

Ripley is the kind of dog who forms a deep bond with his people.

He's goofy enough to make you laugh, smart enough to keep you on your toes, and affectionate enough to melt your heart.

He may need a little guidance as he continues growing into adulthood, but the effort you invest in Ripley will be rewarded many times over. Underneath the adolescent energy is a loyal, loving dog who wants nothing more than to be part of a family.

If you're looking for an active companion who will join you on adventures, keep you entertained, and snuggle up beside you at the end of the day, Ripley is ready to meet you.

Ripley is fostered in Holmen, WI.

To apply to adopt, visit tailsofhopewi.org

Please note donations using the SPONSOR ME tab on PetFinder will not go to Tails of Hope-WI.
