Ringo's Story
**WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF FOSTER HOMES** Homeward Bound Dog Rescue is an all volunteer rescue organization and all our dogs and puppies are in foster homes - we are not a shelter and do NOT have a facility where we house our dogs. For adoption information go to: www.homewardbounddogrescue.com. You must fill out an application online as we do NOT accept applications at our clinics.

Ringo is a 3-year-old, 75lb. Standard Poodle/Labrador Retriever mix. He was purchased as a puppy by an older couple but due to their own serious medical issues a year into dog ownership, they have not been able to care for Ringo appropriately and surrendered him to rescue.
Ringo is a gentle giant! There is not a mean bone in this dog’s body and he can even be a little shy, despite his large frame. He is fully crate-trained and will come with his XL crate, though we are looking for a home where he’s not crated more than 4-5 hours a day. He’s a people dog and loves being around his foster mom most of all. He will sit for HOURS right next to her for head and neck scratches — he loves the attention! Ringo is not a fan of loud, boisterous activity or loud, gregarious humans (especially loud men) so we would envision him in a quiet household with people that love to exercise. Ringo is ok with kids but again, fast movements, squeaking, loud kids are not his jam so we are thinking teenagers on up would make him more comfortable. We have taken Ringo on many walks and he’s a perfect gentleman—great on a short, loose leash on your left side and adjusts his pace to yours. However, if he sees a squirrel run across his path before you have time to correct him, he most likely will pull so he would not be a great candidate for elderly folks or people not strong enough to control him. 99% of the time, he is literally perfect on the leash. Ringo’s most favorite activity—the one where his eyes light up and he gets so excited—is fetch! He is a tennis ball junkie and lives for fetch! He’s super obedient while waiting for the Chuck-It to toss his ball BUT we are still working on “drop it.” A second ball or high-value treats are starting to work to get him to drop. Because of his love of fetch and large frame, we are looking for a large fenced yard for this guy. He is great around dogs of all ages and sizes and is certainly willing to share the home. He is not an alpha dog by any means and falls right in line with the pack. Since he is interested in chasing squirrels, his reaction to cats is unknown at this time. Also, remember that Ringo is a Labradoodle so he will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks or an owner that knows how to groom a dog themselves. He was a perfect gentleman for his at-home groom and had zero issues.

Ringo is super comfy in his foster home so we are in no rush to place this guy—we are looking for the right forever person, couple, or family for this guy so he can have THE BEST Labradoodle life moving forward!

Our adoption clinics are held one Saturday a month at our facility in Schenectady on John Street, located directly behind Boulevard Bowl (Erie Boulevard) from 10 am to 12 pm (directions are on our website). We require an approved application before we consider anyone for an adoption - so filling out the application is your first step. Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive an email invitation to attend an adoption event. Different dogs and puppies go up for adoption EVERY WEEK so please feel free to visit the site and click on the Petfinder link for updates as we are adopting dogs out in between adoption events. Puppies and dogs up to 2 years old are $395. Dogs over 2 years old are $295. 100% of the adoption fees go to help us save more dogs.
