Riley's Story

Riley is OFFICIALLY up for adoption. We will be particular about his adopters. He is a VERY special situation and after two years in his foster home and a lot of dedication, he deserves to go to a forever home that won't send him back. He will require WORK. You have to earn his trust. You have to let him know he's okay. Although, he isn't on medication with us anymore, that doesn't mean he may not need some short term when he goes to a new home, that is dependent on him and his adopter. He has a specific diet, because he gets an upset belly if it's changed. It isn't prescription, but it works for him. Riley loves affection, on his terms. He has zero issues communicating when he wants something, he will bark and tell you ALL about it ! We will require that he's adopted local to Franklin city incase something doesn't work out. This guy is amazing. He just needs patience and understanding. He needs security and someone to take things at HIS pace, not theirs.

Riley is
- Almost 8 years old
- He is current on all vaccines.
- He is neutered.
- He had a dental in December (his second with us) and is missing most of his teeth. He eats dry food soaked in water.
- He has a crate that he goes into but doesn't need, it's his safe space and preference. The door can stay open and he'll go in for comfort.
- Due to his anxiety, he would do best in a home with adults only. He has lived with children, and has done well, but is very anxious about them.
- He is fine with other dogs that are calm, and his size. He will NOT do well with big dogs or young dogs. He gets overwhelmed.
- Riley LOVES to be warm, he LOVES sweaters and heaters. He's from Texas and in Ohio, need I say more ?
- He is VERY treat motivated. VERY. I'm pretty sure he'd move a mountain for some treats or the occasional cheese puff.
- He was used to people food/table scraps before he came to us, please don't give him any. He gets very obsessive over it. And why would you want to risk pancreatitis anyway ?
- He's a small guy with a GIANT personality.
- He can be nippy if you don't give him his space. Like I said, he HAS to move on his time. Don't push him. Don't rush him.

To apply for adoption follow this link : https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/NTAI/Dog
