Riley

This little 22 pound 8 yr old jack mix was found as a stray and brought into the shelter.. <br/> He has been with us since before Christmas, and has survived pneumonia and is doing great!! He is heartworm positive, and recentlly had a cardiac echo which showed his heart is working well. We are getting ready to treat him for heartworms in April.<br/> Riley is a very sweet wise old man. He doesnt start any trouble and he doesnt finish it. He stays out of it. He seems to have not had much attention in his life, doesnt play with toys, is learning to accept petting and relax when being petted. He does follow people around and loves a nice small dog bed. Loves lying in the sun on the porch and exploring the outdoors. Walks okay on lead, but he is really not a dog that likes to go for walks. He likes to be where ever you are, napping . He is house broken and goes to the door. CUrrently on cardiac meds to help his heart, we have downgraded some of those and hopefully after heartworm treatment, he may not need them.. <br/> Riley is just a kind, sweet old man that really doesnt ask for much. Great dog for a retired older couple that isnt too active. A fenced yard is a good idea for him. He has the old age cloudy dog eyes, and his hearing may be a bit dim, but he sure can find that piece of kibblle!!!! Currently fostered in Bradenton, he will be ready for his own home in another month after heartworm treatment!! Please consider this calm quiet old soul!
