Riggs's Story

Hey everyone! My name is Riggs and, boy, do I have a story to tell! I was found as a starving stray in Wittman, AZ. Some nice people helped me find my way to Yavapai Humane Trappers where I’ve been in a foster home in Prescott, AZ since mid-February. I had a microchip, but when YHT called the number, my family said they didn’t want me anymore.

Their loss! I love my foster home, but I’d really love a furever home of my very own. Not really sure how old I am, but the humans think I’m anywhere from 8-10 years old. I don’t show any signs of arthritis, and I still have plenty of pep in my step. I love to go for walks, sleep, lie out in the sun and be outdoors, play with my stuffed toy monkey, snuggle with my foster humans, and EAT.

I like my foster mom a lot, but I LOOOOOOOOOOVE my foster dad. I’m also a lap dog who is up to date on my shots, but still needs to be neutered. The vet says I need to gain some more weight for them to be comfortable doing the surgery. Right now I weigh about 101 pounds and get four meals a day to safely help me gain weight.

Foster momma says I’m the gentlest giant and the goodest boy ever. I’m quiet and laid back, and just want people to love on me. When my foster humans have to leave for work, they gate me in the kitchen and I’m never destructive. I sometimes have an accident if they’re gone for too long because I’m older and can’t wait all day like I used to, but I do my best to use the pee pads they leave out for me.

I love all humans and dogs I’ve met so far. I don’t care for cats. I would definitely love a home where someone can be home with me a lot, and where I might have a buddy to play with.

Think I might be your Mr. McDreamy?
