This big, floppy sweetheart came to us from a puppy mill, and now he's getting to experience what it means to be a loved family member.<br/><br/>Rigel is an affectionate, snuggly boy who loves being close to his people. One of his foster family's favorite things is how he'll quietly lay at their feet while they're in the kitchen, happy just to be near them. He has a moderate energy level and enjoys a nice balance of walks, playtime, naps, and relaxing on the cool floor after a burst of puppy zoomies.<br/><br/>Hes crate trained and sleeps peacefully in his kennel at night. Rigel is still working on potty training and continues to make progress with a consistent routine and frequent trips outside. He's also learning his basic commands, including sit, come, off, and leave it, and he walks wonderfully on a leash.<br/><br/>Like any puppy, Rigel is discovering the world around him. He's just learning how to play with toys and sometimes thinks anything he isn't supposed to have looks even more exciting. He would love another playful dog, although his current foster dogs aren't interested in joining in his fun. Rigel is dog-friendly and would enjoy a canine companion who matches his playful spirit.<br/><br/>As a Newfoundland, Rigel is looking for a family that understands the breed or has taken the time to research their unique needs. Newfoundlands are incredibly loving, loyal companions, but they also come with lots of drool, plenty of shedding, and a giant heart. Rigel can be strong, stubborn, and still gets excited enough to jump, so a home with older children is preferred.
