Ricochet's Story
Ricochet is a 2‑year‑old Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix with a heart full of drive and a mouth full of tennis balls — seriously, this boy could play fetch for hours and still be ready for more. If you know Chessies, you know they’re smart, energetic, and deeply loyal, and Ricochet is no exception. He loves people, loves having a job, and loves being part of someone’s day.

Shelter life has been stressful for him, and he’s doing everything he can to stay upbeat, but after 7 months with little to no interest, we honestly don’t understand why he’s still here. He’s handsome, fun, eager to please, and ready to give his whole heart to the right person.

Ricochet previously lived with another dog, but due to the stress of the shelter environment, he will need to be the only pet in the home. What he wants most is a person who will play with him, guide him, and then let him curl up in their bed for snuggles after a long day.

Ricochet has been deemed Potentially Dangerous in Maryland due to repeated incidents of running loose, barking, and behaving aggressively toward other people and dogs. This is not the same as being deemed dangerous—it simply means he’ll need a responsible adopter committed to keeping him safely managed. For more details, our staff will be happy to explain what this means.

If you’re looking for a goofy, affectionate, tennis-ball-toting best friend who will fill your life (and your yard) with love and laughter, Ricochet might just be your perfect match. 🎾🐾

Ricochet's adoption fee is $0, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption.
