My name is Rico and I'm a 1 year 9 month old Male Chihuahua mix currently living at the Santa Barbara Campus, eager for a new home!<br/><br/>Meet Rico (also known as Rico Suave or cutie pie). He came to us from an overcrowded rescue after his mom faced significant life changes and made the difficult decision to surrender him for his safety in their home environment. When he first arrived, Rico was shy and hesitant, needing time to adjust to his new surroundings and trust the people around him. But don't let his initial caution fool you, beneath that reserved exterior is a little dog with a lot of spunk, personality, and heart! Rico has blossomed into a confident and playful companion who loves to explore, snuggle, and be the main center of attention! His fearfulness has melted away as he's discovered that he's in a safe, loving space where he can just be... Rico. He's got a mischievous streak, whether it's playfully zooming around the yard or charming his way into your lap with his big, soulful eyes. He's also incredibly loyal and forms deep bonds, making him a wonderful addition to any family. Though his journey hasn't been easy, his resilience and growing confidence show just how adaptable and loving he can be. He's ready to leave his past behind and embrace a future filled with warmth, care, and all the belly rubs he could want. If you're looking for a tiny but mighty companion with a heart full of love and an energetic personality that shines, Rico is your guy.<br/><br/>Adoptions are open 12pm-4:30pm every day, except Wednesdays, and no appointment is needed. <br/><br/>Like all SBH animals, when I am adopted I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adoptions also include a certificate for a complimentary post-adoption veterinary exam from a local clinic and our partners at Hills Science Diet will provide a supply of food for my first few days at home.<br/><br/>Need some supplies?
