Rico's Story
What I Need in a Forever Home:

A patient family who understands I can be hesitant with some new people and will let me warm up at my own pace
Someone comfortable working with me on my leash reactivity and continuing to build my confidence
An active family that enjoys walks, playtime, and making memories together
I would especially benefit from a foster or foster-to-adopt home where I can decompress, settle into a routine, and show off my sweet personality.
Hi, Im Rico! Im a handsome Great Pyrenees who made the long journey to Yankee all the way from Texas. Since arriving, Ive been enjoying daily walks with my volunteer friends, yummy frozen treats, and of course, getting my fluffy coat brushed!

Im a very sweet guy with a lot of love to give, but Im also looking for a family who understands that I may need a little patience while I get comfortable. Since we dont know much about my life before coming to Yankee, Im still learning that the world—and the new people in it—can be a safe place. I can sometimes be hesitant with new people at first, so I do best when Im allowed to approach and make friends at my own pace. Once Im comfortable, youll get to see the affectionate, lovable guy everyone here has gotten to know.

I generally walk nicely on leash, but I can be reactive at times while out on walks, particularly when something makes me unsure or overly excited. Ill need someone willing to continue working with me, give me guidance, and help build my confidence. Im a big, strong boy, so having a family comfortable handling a dog my size will be important.

I could live with dog-savvy teenagers who are comfortable with my size. I can picture my future filled with nice walks, playtime, adventures, and plenty of relaxing at home with my people.

Because kennel life doesnt always show us everything about a dog, I would especially love the opportunity to go into a foster or foster-to-adopt home. Being in a home environment would give me a chance to decompress, settle into a routine, and show everyone more of who I really am outside of the kennel.

We dont know whether I was once someones dog or spent time as a stray, but we do know one thing for sure: Im a very sweet, deserving boy who is looking for someone willing to give me a chance. My quirks arent meant to scare anyone away—we just want my future family to know exactly what Im working on so we can find the right match for both of us.

If you have a little patience, a lot of love, and room in your home for one very fluffy, majestic gentleman, Id love to meet you!
