Ricky's Story

Ricky is now an almost 3 year old shepherd cattle mix who grew up in our shelter with his siblings and mama Wren. He was going on all sorts of public events, dog dates and was well loved by our staff and every volunteer. Ricky was adopted back in 2024 and Sadly he returned the week before Christmas in 2025 for not getting along with the man in the home.
Ricky’s behaviors in his adopted home went on far too long without professional assistance to help manage. He moved in with a wonderful family, with a background in dog training, to try to figure things out and brush up on his basic obedience.
Ricky is doing well in his foster home, but he is still leary of men, because of this we are seeking a home with only women!
Ricky can coexist with dogs in group settings on leash, ignores cats completely and loves any and all women. As always all current residents in the home will need to meet Ricky to make sure it’s a perfect t match! We aren’t sure if Ricky can get past these behaviors to live with men ever again but we do know he will make a lovely companion for female(s)!
