Rick's Story
Estimated DOB: 06/06/2024
Breed: Terrier/Lab mix
Weight: 50 pounds
Adoption Fee: $350

Rick is a big-hearted, happy-go-lucky boy who seems to think everyone he meets is his new best friend!

Rick is an incredibly social and affectionate dog who absolutely loves people. He has interacted with many children of all sizes and has done amazingly with every one of them. He genuinely enjoys people and has a very sweet, submissive demeanor toward humans. He is not an alarmist and doesn't feel the need to announce every new person or strange sound. Instead, when someone new walks through the door, Rick's response is usually a big smile, a wagging tail, and an enthusiastic "Hi, friend!"

Rick is potty trained, crate trained, walks well on leash, and already knows several commands, including sit, down, bang, and roll over — although his roll over is more of a half-roll because apparently that's good enough for him! He is also very polite around the house and isn't a counter surfer.

Rick is also wonderfully tolerant of handling. He has no sensitivity around his mouth, ears, tail, or toes, and his foster mom regularly practices gentle handling with him to keep him comfortable with being examined. She routinely handles his face, mouth, ears, tail, and paws, and works with him on desensitization. Rick takes it all in stride, making him wonderfully easy to handle and well prepared for routine vet visits, nail trims, and everyday care.

And then there are the plush toys.

Rick is OBSESSED with plush toys! But unlike many dogs who immediately tear their new toys to shreds, Rick will love and cherish each one. He isn't interested in destroying them — he just wants to carry them around, cuddle them, and give them a good chomp every now and then. He is incredibly gentle with his toys, so his future family should probably consider a BarkBox subscription a household necessity because Rick would be thrilled to have a steady supply of plush friends to love!

Rick is also an easy guy to have around the house. He isn't a hole digger or an escape artist, and he can safely be contained with a 4-foot fence.

Rick lives with several other dogs and has experience sharing a home with dogs ranging from a 110-pound Malamute all the way down to a 9-pound Pomeranian. He is not reactive toward other dogs and would happily share his home with another canine companion. He does need a little time to warm up to new dogs before his playful personality comes out, but once he's comfortable, he's ready to have fun! And if he were the only dog in the home, Rick would be perfectly content soaking up all the attention for himself.

Because if there's one thing Rick never gets tired of, it's affection. He LOVES attention, belly rubs, and being close to his people.

Rick's only real "flaw" is that he occasionally gets a little too excited and may jump up to say hello. But he responds very well to correction and is eager to please, making this something his new family can continue working on with him.

Rick is the kind of dog who makes a house feel happier just by being in it. He's affectionate, social, playful, well-mannered, dog-friendly, tolerant of handling, and ready to be someone's best friend.

If you're looking for a loving companion who will greet you with a smile, make you laugh with his half-rolls, happily cherish his plush toys, and never turn down a belly rub, Rick might just be your guy!

If you’re interested in adopting Rick, fill out the application below!

https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/NKY/Dog

ADDITIONALLY, Rick is looking for a vacation foster from Thursday, October 8th through Monday, October 12th if you’re interested in seeing if he is a good fit for your family!

https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/foster/NKY/Dog

Please feel free to reach out with questions regarding any of our furbabies, the foster, or adoption process at the email below!

emma@cleoslegacy.org

Please note that we cannot hold dogs for any reason.

Cleos Legacy Inc makes no representations warranties of any kind, express or implied, on the dogs listed as available for adoption on our site including the type breed listed on the pet's profile page.
