Richard's Story
Meet Richard, a three-year-old Pit mix weighing 60 pounds.

When Richard first arrived, the world felt like a pretty scary place to him. He was very nervous and unsure, but with time, patience, and kindness, he has warmed up so much and is starting to show his true personality.

Richard can still be a bit of a scaredy-cat in new situations, but once he feels safe, he turns into an absolute sweetheart. He’s playful, bouncy, and has a wonderfully silly side that starts to shine through the more comfortable he gets. He also loves giving kisses and being close to his people.

It almost feels like Richard is still learning how to be a dog—discovering toys, playtime, and just how fun life can be. Watching him gain confidence and enjoy the little things is incredibly rewarding.

Richard would do best with a patient family who will give him the time and encouragement he needs to keep building confidence. In return, you’ll get a loving, goofy companion who will make every milestone feel special.

This pet is available for adoption on 2/28/2026 at 2:23 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
