Rhianne's Story

Meet Rhianne — lovingly called “Annie” — a 4 year old, 38 lb Lab/American Pit Bull Terrier mix with a heart made for companionship and calm!

Quick Facts:
Name: Rhianne (Annie)
Breed: Labrador/American Pitbull Mix
Age: 4 years old
Weight: 38 lbs.
House-Trained: Yes
Crate-Trained: Yes
Good with Dogs: No
Good with Cats: No, not tested
Good with Kids: No (due to her resource guarding)
Energy Level: Low to medium (big cuddle bug)
Fence Required: No
Dog's Location: Raleigh, NC

About Rhianne’s Breed:
Our best guess is that Rhianne is a Labrador/American Pitbull mixed breed. Lab/Pit Bull mixes are known for their affectionate, people oriented nature and their wonderful blend of loyalty, intelligence, and emotional sensitivity. They often form deep bonds with their families and love being part of a calm, predictable household where they can relax and feel secure. Many have a naturally gentle, cuddly side paired with a steady, grounded temperament that makes them incredibly comforting companions.

Their ideal home is one that offers peace, routine, and patient, loving humans. They thrive with families who enjoy quiet time together, appreciate a lower energy dog, and can provide consistent reassurance without a chaotic environment. A home with respectful children, calm dogs, or even as an only pet can be perfect, as long as they’re surrounded by kindness and stability. With the right match, Lab/Pit mixes become deeply devoted, snuggly, and wonderfully steady family members.

What to Love about Rhianne:
Rhianne “Annie” is the definition of a low key best friend. She loves her people deeply and is happiest lounging, recharging, and soaking up the peaceful rhythm of a cozy home. Fast paced, high energy dogs aren’t her style — she’d much rather be the star of the show or share her space with fellow mellow pets who appreciate a relaxed lifestyle.

One of Annie’s sweetest quirks is her habit of “building a scent nest.” She gently gathers her people’s shoes (never chewing!) and tucks them into her blanket pile before curling up for a nap (see the pictures as evidence!). She has wonderful house manners, sleeps soundly through the night, and is fully potty trained and crate trained — though she’s so trustworthy that she can be left alone uncrated without any barking, whining, or mischief.

On walks, Annie has excellent leash manners. She may watch squirrels with curiosity, but she stays calm and never pulls. She’s low to low medium energy, and a couple of short walks or one nice stroll a day is plenty for her. She loves being around her people — not in a clingy way, just in a “life is better together” way. She has loved kids in her foster home before, but due to her resource guarding, she would be best in a home without children. She does guard her crate occasionally so she will need someone to work with her on that. She also has hip dysplasia as is common in dogs of her breed and needs to be on a glucosamine supplement for life.

Annie can be a little skittish around men at first, but she warms up quickly with gentle, calm interactions. She would thrive as an only pet as she doesn't like sharing the spotlight.

If you’re looking for a sweet, easygoing cuddlebug who brings peace, warmth, and a touch of adorable shoe collecting charm into your home, Rhianne is ready to be your perfect companion!

Rhianne’s Ravishing Highlights:
• 4 year old, 38 lb Lab/American Pit Bull Terrier mix with a gentle, easygoing personality
• A true low key companion who loves lounging, relaxing, and being near her people
• Thrives as an only pet, and would love to soak up all your love
• Has the adorable habit of creating “scent nests” with her people’s shoes and blankets (no chewing!)
• Excellent house manners — fully potty trained, crate trained, and trustworthy when left uncrated
• Sleeps soundly through the night in a crate, on a blanket pile, or snuggled in bed
• Wonderful leash manners; calm on walks and doesn’t pull, even when watching squirrels
• Warms up quickly to gentle, calm adults; may be briefly skittish with men at first, no kids due to her resource guarding
• Low to low medium energy — happy with a couple short walks or one nice stroll a day
• Sweet cuddle bug who brings peace, comfort, and lots of love to a calm, cozy home

Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/.
