Rex NKA Copper - COME MEET!'s Story
Copper (formerly known as Rex) is a 4-year-old, 48 lb Australian Cattle Dog/Lab mix with a big heart and a strong sense of loyalty. He was originally adopted from us as a puppy, but due to changes in his current family’s lifestyle, Copper is looking for a new home that better suits his needs.

Copper is a sweet, affectionate dog who loves to snuggle and be near his people. He’s playful, enjoys toys and bones, and thrives on routine. True to his cattle dog roots, he keeps a close eye on his family and loves when everyone is safe and accounted for.

Copper is crate-trained and considers his crate his safe space. He will completely relax in his crate, especially when home alone or overnight. He likes burrowing under blankets and uses one over his head at the vet as opposed to a muzzle.

Copper is a very smart boy, eager to learn and please. He knows several commands including: sit, stay, lay down, back up, “go to bed,” and come. He loves mental stimulation by playing “find it” with toys or treats, using puzzle feeders, or chasing bubbles. He will thrive in a home where he has a job to do, a predictable routine, and lots of love and attention.

Copper does well with other dogs at doggy daycare when off-leash and in a neutral environment. A home with a fenced in yard is preferred as he is easily distracted when off-leash. He also enjoys leash walks in quiet areas as opposed to a busy or city environment.

Copper is looking for an experienced, patient dog owner who understands working breeds and can give him a calm, structured environment. A home without young children and with minimal visitors is best for him. He thrives in a low-key, stable setting.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a big brain and an even bigger heart, Copper could be the perfect fit for you. Please complete an online application at www.foreverhomerescue.org to meet Copper with his family. He will not be at our open house events.

Adoption Coordinator: Carol
Adoption Fee: Waived for the right home
