Rex NKA Copper - COME MEET!'s Story
Copper (formerly known as Rex) is a 4-5 year old, 48 lb Australian Cattle Dog/Lab mix. He was originally adopted from us as a puppy, but due to changes in his current family's lifestyle, Copper is looking for a forever home that better suits his needs.

This sweet, affectionate boy loves to snuggle and be near his people. He is playful, enjoys toys and bones, and thrives on routine. He loves mental stimulation by playing "find it" with toys or treats, using puzzle feeders, and will chase bubbles for hours. He loves having a job to do!

Copper is very smart and eager to please. He is well trained and knows several commands including: sit, stay, lay down, back up, go to bed, and come. He will thrive in a home where he has a predictable routine and receives lots of love and attention. True to his cattle dog roots, he keeps a close eye on his family and loves when everyone around.

Copper does well with other dogs when off-leash at doggy daycare and in a neutral environment. He does have some leash aggression with other dogs and will bark when they pass by his house. Because of this, he will do best in a home with a fenced in yard, but he also enjoys leash walks in a quiet area. He is a dog who loves his crate and considers it his safe space, especially when left home alone or overnight. He will even put himself to bed at night. He likes burrowing under blankets and uses one over his head at the vet which can be scary for him.

Copper is looking for an experienced and patient owner who understands working breeds and will give him time to transition to his new home. A home without young children and minimal visitors is ideal.

If you can provide a loving, low-key, calm and stable home for this special boy,
please complete an online application at www.foreverhomerescue.org to meet Copper with his family. He will not be at our open house events.

Adoption Coordinator: Carol
Adoption Fee: Waived for the right home
