Rex's Story
Rex is a playful, treat-loving terrier mix with a heart full of love—and he's ready to share it with his forever family! At just 2.5 years old, Rex brings the perfect mix of youthful energy and budding confidence. He may be a little shy when meeting new people, but give him a little time and a few tasty treats, and Rex will quickly show you his softer side. Once he feels comfortable, he’s all about gentle eye contact, tail wags, and fun play sessions. Toys? Yes, please! Rex is especially fond of ropes and balls, and while he can get a bit bouncy and vocal during playtime, he’s learning to channel that excitement—and he’s a champ at trading toys for treats. Smart and eager to please, Rex already knows several basic cues like sit, down, paw, stay, and come. He’s still working on his leash manners, but with consistency and positive reinforcement, he’s sure to improve in no time. Rex is friendly but cautious with new faces and would thrive in a calm, patient home where he can build trust at his own pace. Because of his jumpy play style and need for gentle handling, he’d do best with teens (16+). If you’re looking for a bright, spirited pup who just needs a little time and love to truly shine, Rex might be your perfect match. He’s ready to learn, ready to play—and most of all, ready to love.

If you are interested in learning more contact our placement team at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:
E: Adoption@hempsteadny.gov
E: Foster@hempsteadny.gov
E: Rescue@hempsteadny.gov
T. 516.785.5220
#Adoptme #Adoption #adoptionistheoption #adoptable #cutepup #longislanddogparents #ifitaintpit #mixedbreed #petitepup #rescued #rescuedog #rescuedogsofinstagram #instadog #dogstagram #dogs #doggo #shelterdogs #shelterpups #takemehometoday #dogoftheday #dogsofnewyork #nycdogs #longislanddogs
