Rex Border Collie Mix Mauston, WI

Rex is a spunky Australian cattle dog mix who is just 1 1/2 years old and weighs about 45lbs. Rex is an puppy mill survivor who made his way to the shelter in the hopes of finding someone to love. We are still learning all about this energetic guy, and helping him adjust to life indoors with access to clean water and nutritious food. While many puppy mill dogs are terrified of people, Rex is just the opposite and absolutely LOVES his humans! He wiggles all over the place when he sees you because he can’t contain his excitement. Likely because of his background, Rex has minimal impulse control or manners. We are working hard on this, and he has already come a long way, but Rex is absolutely going to need someone who is willing to continue teaching him how to be a mannerly canine citizen. He is surprisingly strong for his size and doesn’t always realize that strength. Rex does have a lot of energy, and is going to require someone who is willing to allow him plenty of opportunities to burn it off. Hiking, biking, jogging- Rex will happily do it all! He would probably be a star at something structured like agility or backpacking. While this silly guy is great with people, he is very dog selective and can be reactive to other animals, including cats. We are seeking a home for him with no other animals. Rex is a handsome, intelligent boy who has so much potential, he just need a patient family to show him the way.

If you are interested in adopting an animal after viewing it an adoption Application should be filled out and left with the volunteers. Once the Adoption Application is reviewed and a background check is done someone from the shelter will be in contact with you.
