Rex's Story

Rex is around 2–4 years old, weighs about 60 lbs, and has the softest soulful eyes and wrinkles for days. He’s playful, affectionate, goofy, incredibly smart, and absolutely full of personality.

This boy LOVES to play. Tennis balls? Tug-o-war? Zoomies around the yard? Yes please. His foster mom says he’s one of the most playful dogs she’s ever met. Sometimes he gets so excited during playtime that he drops the toy and bursts into giant happy zoomies before flopping over for belly rubs and cuddles.

And once playtime is over, Rex is a total companion dog. He loves following his humans from room to room, lounging nearby while you watch TV, and sleeping close to his people. He truly bonds deeply with his humans and loves being part of everyday life at home.

Rex absolutely adores his people and enjoys meeting new people. He would likely do best with dog-savvy teenagers who understand respectful boundaries and dog behavior.

Rex does have some unique needs, and we want to be transparent in helping him find the RIGHT home. He can become hyper-focused on lights and reflections, so he will need a dog-savvy adopter committed to continuing healthy redirection, structure, enrichment, and routine. He’s a smart boy who has already shown that he’s capable of learning and building new habits with consistency and guidance.

Because of this, we think Rex would thrive best in:

• A quieter home or lower traffic environment
• A securely fenced yard for safe zoomies — or even better, a home with property where he can simply enjoy being a dog
• A dog-savvy adopter willing to continue helping him build confidence and healthy habits
• A more homebody-style lifestyle rather than busy public outings
• A home without cats
• A home understanding that squirrels and bunnies will absolutely be considered his personal mission in life

Rex is crate trained, potty trained, eager to learn, and already working hard on commands like “stay” and “come.” No one has really taught this boy the basics before, but he’s smart and wants to connect.

He may do best as an only dog, though the possibility of another dog could be considered with proper introductions, patience, and experienced guidance.

Rex is a deeply loving, special dog looking for humans who will embrace him for exactly who he is and continue helping him thrive.
