Rex's Story
Neutered Male
1.5 Years Old
103 Pounds
$175

Rex is a 1 1/2-year-old German Shepherd mix weighing in at an impressive 103 pounds. While he may look like a big, confident dog, Rex is actually a sensitive young guy who can be nervous in new situations and around unfamiliar people. Once he gets to know you, though, his sweet personality begins to shine.

Rex walks nicely on a leash and is housebroken, but he has had very little formal training and is still learning the basics. He's looking for a patient adopter who is willing to invest time in training, building his confidence, and helping him become the best dog he can be. Rex also struggles with separation anxiety, so he will do best with a family that can help him learn that being alone isn't so scary.

Because of his size and sensitivity, Rex would do best with older children who can respect his boundaries. He does not enjoy having his paws touched or being picked up and appreciates people who listen to what he's comfortable with. He loves durable toys and sturdy chew bones that can stand up to a big dog's enthusiasm.

Rex can do well with other dogs, but due to his size, confidence level, and high prey drive, he is not a good fit for homes with cats, small dogs, or dominant canine companions.

Rex is searching for a committed family that will provide patience, structure, and understanding. In return, this gentle giant will reward them with loyalty, companionship, and plenty of love.

At the Humane Society of Midland County, all animals adopted will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations prior to an adoption. Dogs over 6 months of age will be heartworm tested, and any dog with a positive test will receive treatment at No Appointment Needed to Meet Adoptable Animals!
We have open adoption hours, and walk-ins are always welcome! While filling out an application lets us know you're interested in adopting, it does not hold an animal, and applications are not required to meet the available animals. We do highly recommend and may require you to bring any dogs that reside in the same household, or that will be around commonly if you are meeting a new dog companion.

Want to Know if Im Still Available?
Call the shelter at (989)-835-1877 to confirm my availability. If youd like to show youre thinking about adopting, please fill out an application on our website under "Adopt" at www.hsomc.org.

Open Adoption Hours:

Tuesday & Wednesday: Noon 6 pm

Thursday & Friday: Noon 7 pm

Saturday: Noon 4 pm

Im located at the Humane Society of Midland County, 4371 E Ashman St, Midland, MI 48642.

We cant wait to meet you and help you find your new best friend!
