Without a home commitment, he cannot make transport.

Meet Rex

Rex is a 2-year-old Shepherd mix who has already overcome a difficult start in life. Found as a stray in rough condition months ago, he was taken in by a kind family who gave him safety, food, and time to heal while hoping to help him find the forever home he deserves. When they were no longer able to care for him, Rex entered the shelter system and is now searching for a second chance.

Despite everything he has been through, Rex has held onto his happy, friendly personality. He is eager to connect with people, enjoys attention, and has come such a long way since first being found. Rex truly deserves a forever home of his own where he can continue to thrive.

Rex does well with other dogs in shelter playgroups and enjoys socializing and playing. He is also good with kids, making him a wonderful candidate for many different home environments. While he has not been formally tested with cats, shelter staff believe he would likely not be a good fit for a home with cats.

He absolutely loves water and enjoys getting outside whenever he can. Rex is still learning leash manners and continuing to build confidence with structure and guidance. He has been doing well using a prong collar and responds positively to consistent handling and direction.

Having spent much of his life outdoors, Rex is still learning the routines and expectations that come with being part of a home. He will benefit from patience, encouragement, and continued training, but he is young, eager to learn, and full of potential. With the right family, Rex is expected to blossom into a loyal and devoted companion.

Rex has completed heartworm treatment and is now ready for a fresh start.

Age: 2 years
Gender: Male (neutered)
Weight: Approximately 64 lbs
Breed: Shepherd Mix
Intake Type: Owner surrender (rescued stray)
Good with Dogs: Yes
Good with Cats: Likely no, but not formally tested
Good with Kids: Yes
Leash Manners: Working on it
Potty Trained: Unsure
Crate Trained: Unsure

Rex is looking for someone who sees his past but believes in his future.
