Rex's Story
Rex (formerly Max) was rescued from the shelter on his very last day because they were completely out of space. And wow… are we thankful we said yes to this boy. ❤️

Rex is a stunning black shepherd, about 65 pounds, with the gentlest soul. From the moment he left the shelter, it was obvious that underneath all the stress and uncertainty was an incredibly sweet dog who just needed a safe place to finally exhale.

Now that he’s settled into foster care, his personality is blossoming more every day.

Rex is friendly with everyone he meets and does wonderfully with other dogs. In fact, at the vet’s office he greeted every dog in the waiting room like he was the official welcome committee. 😭 He was calm and cooperative for his exam, happily laying there while staff cared for him.

At home, Rex is the definition of an easygoing companion. He’s crate trained, well-mannered, and happiest simply being near his people. In the evenings, he curls up next to his foster family on the couch, and at night he sleeps peacefully on the bed with them until morning.

He especially loves relaxing outside with his family while they enjoy quiet evenings in the backyard. Give him a comfy cushion, some fresh air, and people he loves nearby, and he’s content as can be.

Rex does have a sensitive side. Too much chaos or loud commotion can make him nervous, and instead of reacting, he simply removes himself from the situation to find somewhere calm and safe. He does not lunge, bite, or create problems. He truly has such a gentle, thoughtful nature.

His foster family keeps saying the same thing over and over: “He’s just a really good boy.” And honestly, we couldn’t agree more.

Rex would thrive in a loving home that will continue giving him time to decompress, settle in, and feel secure. Once he trusts you, he becomes the sweetest shadow, happiest just being by your side.

After nearly losing his life simply because the shelter ran out of space, we would absolutely love to see Rex finally get the forever home he deserves. ❤️🐾
