Retired Racing Greyhounds Only's Story

Greyhounds only!
Make Peace With Animals is a not for profit, all volunteer organization that has been finding homes for retired racing greyhounds since 1988. To date, we have placed over 5,500 ex-racers into loving homes. Additionally, our founder and president, Cynthia Branigan, is the author of the book that pioneered Greyhound adoptions worldwide, “Adopting the Racing Greyhound”. It first appeared in 1992 and now is in a third, updated edition. Each first-time adopter gets a copy of the book to ensure proper care of the new adoptee. Additionally, we offer lifetime support for adopter, either with advice or by taking back the dog if the adoption does not work out.
We are still actively seeking homes for former racers, even though there are now fewer Greyhound race tracks than in the past. Yet while the supply of dogs is lower, the desire for Greyhounds as companions is still very high. We have a waiting list of potential adopters and often the dogs we take in never even make it to Petfinder. Generally, we can find suitable matches for Greyhounds more quickly to homes without cats or small dogs.
We still have the resources to get a dog that will fill your requirements and urge you to get your application in as soon as you know you want to adopt.
To apply, download an application from our website at: www.makepeacewithanimals.org
