This handsome boy was purchased from a breeder as a puppy and has been well-loved. Life has changed and his current family in Waverly doesn’t have the time to give him the attention he deserves — so they’re helping him find the perfect home where he can truly thrive. They will foster him until he gets adopted.<br/><br/>Remi is house-trained, kennel-trained, and knows his basic commands. He’s a quick learner who absolutely loves to eat — he’ll do just about anything for a treat! Because of his food motivation, he does need to be watched in the kitchen, as he’s been known to sneak a snack or two if given the chance. <br/><br/>This affectionate boy loves snuggling up beside you, joining you for car rides, and playing fetch. He’s energetic and would do best in a home with a fenced-in yard or underground fence where he can safely run and play so a fenced in yard is required.<br/><br/>Remi can be vocal at times — he’ll bark when guests arrive or if he hears something outside — but he responds well to a bark collar and settles quickly once reassured.<br/><br/>Because Remi hasn’t been socialized with other dogs or cats, he would do best as the only pet in the home, where he can soak up all your love and attention. He has never been around a cat and does not do well with other dogs. He’s a big-hearted dog who doesn’t always realize his size, so he’d be most comfortable with middle school–aged children or older.<br/><br/>Remi has a non-shedding, curly coat that requires grooming every 6–8 weeks. He will need a home that can afford these grooming appointments and make sure he gets in before his coat gets matted which is painful for a dog. <br/><br/>Over a year ago, Remi also developed allergies. After many tests and vet visits, they have found an easy way to manage his allergies. He receives an allergy shot every 6 months and he also only eats "Natural Balance: Limited Ingredient Lamb & Bown Rice" dog food that can be found online. Remi will need a home willing to keep up with the simple ways to keep his allergies in check with the allergy shot and the Natural Balance food.<br/><br/>He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to bring endless love, laughter, and loyalty to his new family.<br/><br/>If you’re looking for a devoted, affectionate companion who will fill your days with joy, cuddles, and companionship, Remi might just be your perfect match! <br/><br/>10/22/25 UPDATE: Remi does pull when he is on a leash. His family never took him for walks because he gets plenty of exercise in their fenced in yard. <br/><br/>$100.00 adoption fee for Remi.<br/><br/>WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com<br/><br/>All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.<br/>Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $450 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
