Reishi (Courtesy Post)'s Story

Reishi is a 3-year-old, 40 lb Cattle Dog mix with the looks of a little red fox and the heart of a true working dog. He is eager to please, highly intelligent, and happiest when he has a job to do. As with most herding breeds, his working nature thrives with structure, engagement, and thoughtful leadership.

Reishi loves playing ball, going on walks and hikes, and learning agility-style tricks. He is enthusiastic about most tasks you ask of him and takes direction exceptionally well. When his physical and mental needs are met, he settles beautifully and is quite mellow in the home.

He is independent yet deeply connected to his handler, bonds strongly once trust is built, and will do best with someone who understands and respects the minds and needs of herding dogs. Experience with working breeds is a big plus.

Reishi is crate trained, leash trained, e-collar trained, and solid in obedience. He regularly participates in pack hikes with both small and large dogs. While he needs a bit of time to warm up to new dogs and people, he typically adjusts quickly and forms strong, loyal bonds.

Rehoming is necessary due to incompatibility with a second male dog in the household. With the right match, Reishi will be an incredible companion and working partner. He just might steal your heart if you let him.

Reishi is courtesy posted as a private rehome.
